Mr Atul Kansal is the Founder and Managing Director of INDUS Environmental Services Pvt Ltd. An Auditor, Consultant and Successful Entrepreneur, Mr Kansal wears many hats. Prior to starting INDUS in 2001, Atul founded Indian Operations of ERM (1994-1999) and also of AECOM (2000 to 2001). Mr Kansal holds very high regards for Ethics and has strictly followed the Principles of Ethics and Professionalism throughout his career.

Mr Kansal is registered as a Principal Environmental Auditor (PEA) with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), UK and is Special International Advisor on Board of International Due Diligence Association (IDDA), USA. He is also a Member of Auditing Roundtable of US and Environmental Law Institute (ELI) of Washington DC, USA. He has also done Certified Due Diligence Professional Certification (CDDP) from IDDA, USA. Back home, he is also a Life Member of National Safety Council of India (NSC);  and Member of Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) and Indian National Bar Association (INBA).

Over the last 23 years, Mr Kansal has gained more than 2,200 days of audit experience having managed and conducted almost 500 projects across a variety of sectors. He has provided Auditing and Consultancy to a variety of sectors including Animal Healthcare Products, Automobiles and Automotive Ancillaries, Banking and Financial Institutions, Cement, Chemicals, Construction Projects, Consumer Goods, Dyes and Pigments, Engineering, Foods and Beverages, Healthcare Products, Hotels and Resorts, Hydropower and Irrigation Projects, Information Technology, Medicinal Products, Mining, Municipal Waste Landfills, Oil & Gas Exploration, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Roads and Highways, Rural & Community Development, Solid Wastes Management, Telecommunications, Thermal Power Plants, other Infrastructure Projects, etc.

Mr Kansal has spoken extensively at several International and National platforms on “EHS Compliance and related Risks and Liabilities in Developing Countries.” Mr Kansal has written a book on “EHS and Social Regulations and Legislative Framework in India” which the industries consider as a bible for compliance assurance; and another on “Know More About – Hazardous Waste Management Rules 2008.” He is just about to complete another book “Know More About – e-Waste Management Rules 2011.”  All the books are kept up-to-date on a fortnightly basis.

More recently, Mr Kansal is doing a lot of work with Private Equity (PE) Houses and Venture Capital (VC) firms helping them on Environment & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and also in E&S Monitoring. Currently he is working with clients like CLSA, EDC, International Finance Corporation (IFC), JP Morgan, KKR, Peepul Capital, FMO, IAP Investment Banking, GE Capital, GE Energy Financial Services, KfW, VenturEast, etc.

An engineer by education, Mr Kansal believes in continuous upgradation of skills and proficiencies. He recently completed his Executive MBA from ISB – Hyderabad. As part of the course, he has completed study tours to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, have added a whole new international perspective to his business acumen.
