On May 7th 2018, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) appointed the Smart City Sweden in India Group (Teknikföretagen, SIBC, IVL) to develop a feasibility report for District Cooling. The appointment, which will be delivered by Sweco, will be to develop the potential of district cooling to be utilised for the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre. This covers 95 hectares of land that will, in its first phase, consume 100 MW. The investment cost for the first phase of the project is estimated at 100 MSEK.
The International Convention Centre will have the following facilities:
• Open exhibition centre. (98,000 sq.m)
• Closed exhibition hall A (35,000 sq.m), hall B (35,000 sq.m) & allied infrastructure.
• Closed exhibition hall C (35,000 sq.m), Commercial centre and museum.
• Convention centre. (5000-person capacity)
Sweco will now develop a market analysis of global experts on district energy networks, for an understanding of best practice solutions. The models being investigated will look to contribute the UN Global Goals on decarbonized urban development. This will be done by using equipment and technologies that use refrigerants and energy sources that have low global warming potential and ozone depletion potential. The aim will be to develop a carbon neutral Exhibition Centre.
The market analysis will be done by October 2018, at which time a business model for potential deployment will be developed.
